Not even her impending nuptials can keep Lucy Berberian, manager of her family-owned Kebab Kitchen, from the Jersey Shore’s annual Polar Bear Plunge. But her dive into the icy ocean is especially chilling when she finds a fellow swimmer doing the dead man’s float—for real . . .
Who would kill a man in cold blood during Ocean Crest, New Jersey’s most popular winter event? When Lucy learns the victim is Deacon Spooner, the reception hall owner who turned up his nose—and his price—at her wedding plans, she can’t help wondering who wouldn’t kill the pompous caterer . . .
Perhaps the culprit is the wedding cake baker whose career Deacon nearly destroyed? Or the angry bride whose reception he ruined? With her maid of honor, Katie, busily planning Lucy’s wedding without her, Lucy will have to get to the bottom of this cold-hearted business in time for Kebab Kitchen’s mouthwatering Christmas celebration—and before her hometown’s holiday spirit washes out to sea . . .

Interview with the Author
What initially got you interested in writing?
For as long as I can remember, I have loved books. As a teenager, I used scotch tape to hold my peeling laminated library card together. I spent many nights reading in bed well past midnight to finish a book, only to start another. I know my mom was aggravated waking up a tired teenager every morning!
I wrote my first book when I was sixteen. I remember typing furiously on the family computer, only to get frustrated when I was interrupted by one of my siblings. I thought the book was the greatest ever written, a Jackie Collin’s spin off, and believed it was my ticket to instant fame. How little did I know!
What genres do you write in?
I write diverse cozy mysteries as Tina Kashian. I use my ethnic background in my Kebab Kitchen cozy mysteries. I have written Regency period historical romance under the pen name Tina Gabrielle as well.
What drew you to writing these specific genres?
I have always loved reading mysteries. It’s my preferred genre and what I’m working on now.
How did you break into the field?
My education helped me grow as a writer. I obtained a J.D. in Law and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. My love of reading for pleasure helped me get through the tough years of academia. My work as a civil insurance fraud prosecutor gave me great fodder for crime stories. And always, spinning in my mind during my lunch hour and my long commutes, were untold stories that I yearned to write about. I started writing books, only to be pulled away by work and family, but I kept trudging forward, learning as I wrote. After multi-publishing for a law journal, I have finally fulfilled my dream of writing fiction.
What do you want readers to take away from reading your works?
My goal is to entertain readers and for them the have an escape.
What do you find most rewarding about writing?
I enjoy the isolation and being drawn into my own world as I write.
What do you find most challenging about writing?
The isolation can be lonely. I’ve learned to connect with other writers and to take break. I also enjoy spending time with my two girls and husband.
What advice would you give to people wanting to enter the field?
Persistence is key! This is a crazy industry. One day you are flying high and seeing your books on Amazon and the shelves of Barnes & Noble. The next day your editor leaves and the publisher no longer wants your series. Keep writing. Keep learning. Keep selling. I’m a firm believer that when God closes one door, he opens another.
What type of books do you enjoy reading?
I read a vast and diverse amount of fiction. I love my cozies. I also enjoy historical fiction, historical romance, thrillers, and traditional mysteries.
Is there anything else besides writing you think people would find interesting about you?
I’m a lap swimmer. I had scoliosis as a kid and had to wear one of those awful back braces. The doctor told me I had to wear it 23 hours a day. One hour to shower. Or if I was in the pool, then I did not have to wear the brace. I immediately joined the swim team, and my love of lap swimming began. It’s the best exercise for the body. I’ve also plotted entire books while swimming the breaststroke.
